On July 23, 2025, Google for Developers launched an experimental tool called Opal. I watched the announcement video on YouTube, and I couldn’t wait to share what I found. In this blog, I will talk about my honest experience using Opal. I will keep my language simple and easy to understand. My goal is to help people like me, who may not be proficient in coding but want to use the power of AI.
My First Look at Opal Agent
When I first heard about Opal, I was curious. I am always searching for ways to make my work easier. I am not a coder. So, I rely on tools that do not need programming skills. Opal is made just for people like me. According to Google, Opal helps you make AI mini-apps using only natural language. This means, I can describe what I want, and Opal will build it for me.
No-Code Magic—Is It Real?
I have seen many tools promise “no-code” magic. But most are hard to use or need some technical skills. Opal felt different from the start. The interface is clean. I saw two clear options when I opened it. I could remix an app from the gallery. Or, I could start building my own from scratch.
I liked the idea of remixing existing apps. It is a safe way to learn. Still, I wanted to be bold. So, I created a new app from zero. I typed what I wanted—“do deep research on a topic, write a blog post, and make a video to go with it.” That’s it. Opal understood my words and started working.
Step-by-Step Workflow
What I found the most interesting is how Opal breaks down tasks. It made a step-by-step workflow from my simple sentence. There were input steps, where I put my topic and context. Next, there were generation steps, creating the blog and the video. Finally, output steps showed me the finished results.
This process gave me a lot of control. If I wanted to change anything, I could click into a step and edit the instructions. I could also add more steps with a few clicks. There was no code anywhere! It was all like playing with building blocks.
Sharing and Collaboration
One thing I loved is how easy it is to share my app. After I finished, I clicked “publish Opal.” Then, I got a unique link. I sent this link to my friend. She opened it on her browser and could run or edit the app too. It feels like Google Docs, but for AI apps.
This can change how people work together. Teams can build AI solutions quickly. Even if someone has no coding background, they can now take part.
My Honest Feelings
After using Opal, I feel excited for the future. The tool is still experimental, but it already does a lot. There are a few things that could improve. Sometimes, I wish it explained more when things go wrong. But overall, the experience was smooth and fun.
Why Opal Matters
I believe Opal shows where technology is going. Soon, more people like me—teachers, bloggers, small business owners—will use AI every day. We will not need to hire expensive developers or learn coding. With tools like Opal, our ideas will turn into real AI-powered apps, with just a few words.
